SOY

Soy is a valuable source of protein and oil and is widely used as a staple food worldwide

SOY

The soybean is a legume native to East Asia. It is widely grown for its edible bean. The bean has many uses.

Soybeans can be used to make soy milk. From soy milk, tofu and tofu skin can be made. Fermented soy foods like soy sauce, fermented bean paste, nattō, and tempeh are also made from soybeans. Fat-free soybean meal is a cheap source of protein for animal feed and packaged meals. Soybean products like textured vegetable protein (TVP) are used in meat and dairy substitutes.

Soybeans contain phytic acid, dietary minerals, and B vitamins. Soy vegetable oil is made from processed soybeans and used in food and industrial applications. Soybean is an important protein source for farm animals, which provides animal protein for humans.

Soybeans are oily beans and belong to the legume family. They provide food for many people and are used in chemical preparation.

Global soybean production was 370.24 million tons last year. It is expected to increase to 399.50 million tons in 2023, which is a 7.90% increase.

This year, Brazil expects to harvest 153 million tons of soybeans. Brazil is the largest producer and exporter of soybeans. About 92 million tons will be exported, which is a 16.6% increase compared to the previous season.

In 2022, the top exporters of soybeans and soybean meal were:

– Brazil: 50% of global exports, valued at $46 billion.

– United States: 37% of global exports, valued at $34 billion.

– Argentina: 3.3% of global exports, valued at $3.08 billion.

– Canada: 2.9% of global exports, valued at $2.7 billion.

– Uruguay: 2.06% of global exports, valued at $1.92 billion.

Soybean meal is a byproduct of extracting soybean oil. It is categorized based on its crude protein content for marketing purposes.

Currently, 98% of soybean meal worldwide is used as feed for livestock and poultry. Around 80% of the world’s soybeans are used as animal and poultry feed, particularly for beef, chicken, eggs, and dairy products like milk, cheese, butter, and yogurt.

In our country in 1401, we imported over 1.4 million tons of soybean meal worth more than $848 million. We process and consume domestic products.
